Ex U of T Star Huff: No Reggie Bush Was Good News

Former Texas safety Michael Huff of Irving Nimitz, who won the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back last season, said Monday he's glad Reggie Bush wasn't on the field for USC's critical fourth-and-2 play in the fourth quarter of the Rose Bowl.

Huff, along with Brian Robison and Rod Wright, helped make a game-saving tackle of USC running back LenDale White, stopping him short on fourth-and-2 late in the game. Texas then took the ball and scored the winning TD.

"If Reggie Bush had been on the field, lined up in the slot, I would have had to cover him," Huff said. "Instead, with Reggie Bush out of the game, I was able to blitz and help stop that run. I don't know why USC didn't have Reggie Bush out there, even as a decoy. But I'm glad they didn't."
