Yea. they´re America´s team now--displacing the Cowboys...Drew Brees give the Saints what they haven´t had a quarterback: A guy who´s going to make good decisions on a weekly basis. Brees has the ability to pull out close games. We saw evidence of that when he took his team to those two fourth-quarter scoring drives...Drees has put up 1,509 yards passing for 8 TDs for a 66.7 percentage and an impressive 92.8 quarterback rating in six games...
Reggie Bush is putting up big numbers, but he used as a decoy to allow players like Mauques Colston and Deuce McAllister have big games. Colston will be a candidate for rookie of the year honors at his current pace. "Reggie´s presence all over the field spreads out defenses and allows Deuce and the receivers room to get open," said Hokey Gajan, former Saints fullback and Saints radio analyst...One of the team´s most successful acquisitions was linebacker Scott Fujita, who is called the "Asian Assassin" by his teammates. He is leading the team in tackles, interceptions and is second in sacks...All the moves which were criticized before the season are now being praised....
Guard Jermane Mayberry has retired. Injuries and age finally caught up with him...When Saints coach Sean Payton took over, he walked in the locker room and spotted a reclining chair near a locker. The coach wanted to know which player had a chair like that in the locker room. An equipment man informer him it belonged to tackle Wayne Gandy. The coach said he wanted the chair out of the locker before the next morning. Gandy was traded to the Falcons...Former LSU great Billy Cannon said McAllister reminds him of himself when he was a pro running back. "He glides and breaks tackles," said the former Heisman Trophy winner from LSU who played with the Oilers, Raiders and Chiefs. Cannon, today an orthodontist, said the game has changed since his day. Fresno State coach Pat Hill, who brings his Bulldogs into Tiger Stadium Saturday night, was a candidate for the Saints coaching job that Payton got. In two weeks, his team plays WAC buzz Boise State.
