Reggie Bush is Golden Against 49ers Who knew Reggie Bush would turn into Joseph Addai and score four touchdowns, just like his rookie brethren did a week ago? Saints coach Sean Payton probably had a pretty good idea it would happen. Once Joe Horn left Sunday's game against the 49ers in the first quarter with a groin injury, the Saints, who already were without Marques Colston, were down to Devery Henderson and Terrance Copper as their top two wide receivers. New Orleans, which has lived off big plays from its wide receivers all season, needed to take a different approach. Without Colston and Horn, two targets for Drew Brees in the middle of the field, short passes to Reggie Bush became the order of the day.Reggie Bush took over against a 49ers defense that is improving but couldn't corral a player of Reggie Bush's talent. Reggie Bush totaled 168 yards, 131 of which were through the air. Perhaps as a reward for Reggie Bush's efforts, Payton left him in the game in red-zone opportunities and Reggie Bush responded with four scores of 10 yards or less. Meanwhile, fellow back Deuce McAllister totaled 140 yards but had no scores in what was a reversal of New Orleans' usual plan near the goal line. But that's how Sean Payton and Co. run things in New Orleans. They have shown a great willingness to adapt in what has been an amazing rebuilding effort. And that's why fantasy owners shouldn't read too much into Sunday's performance. Chances are New Orleans will need to take a different approach next week against Dallas, where the rushing yards will be more difficult to come by and the pass attempts could be more plentiful. Whatever happens, though, Reggie Bush proved he deserves to start as your No. 2 fantasy back, especially if the Saints are short on receivers. More Top Stories on Reggie Bush
