College Football Preview, Pac 10 - UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans

You can purchase USC Trojans Football Tickets as well as UCLA Football Tickets at the Rose Bowl from Barrys Tickets. Barrys has a huge selection of Pasadena Rose Bowl Tickets, Fiesta Bowl Tickets and all other bowl games.

USC TROJANS

Leading the USC Trojans this year on offense will either be QB's John David Booty and Mark Sanchez. They've waited patiently to step in and make their mark along with many talented backs capable of becoming another electrifying producer. Both WR's Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith are also back to anchor the WR corps, while the O-Line has been bolstered with talent over the years and should be nasty once again. The offense won't be nearly as dominating as it was a season ago, but expect it to be a potent group and more than pull its weight.

The USC Trojans defense slipped a bit in '05, and HC Carroll handed the reigns over to new DC Nick Holt who previously worked with Carroll as an assistant before his HC job at Idaho. His front seven is flat out nasty, and will be one of the main reasons why this group as a whole improves. Expect the USC Trojans football defense to be the featured unit until the offense gels completely. The Trojans exceptional play the last four year's has spoiled us immensely, so a few losses this year might shock many. The Trojans get to play most of their stiffer competition at home, but the schedule still looks tough nonetheless.

UCLA

The Bruins offense will be without a number of huge contributors from last season, but there's plenty of talent on hand looking to step in and make a name for themselves. However, don't expect the '06 Bruins to come near matching the 39 PPG from a year ago. The defense was so bad last season that HC Dorrell brought in DeWayne Walker to solve the problem in '06. He is a no-nonsense guy who learned under the likes of Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick, and Greg Walker. He'll be asked to improve a stop unit that was close to last in the league in terms of total, rushing, and scoring defense.

Even with only six returning starters, look for the UCLA Bruins football stop unit to carry a much different swagger this season. Special Teams returns both kickers, but takes a huge hit on returns with the departure of Maurice Drew. With fewer starters returning and an overhauled coaching staff, it will take some time for this group to gel. The schedule will test the new look Bruins with road trips to Notre Dame, Oregon, Cal, and Arizona State. They won't come near double-digit wins this season, but they could flirt with bowl eligibility.
